johnflanagan asked: I'm moving up to New York at the end of November. What part of town do you live in? How did you find a job there?
Hey John,
Good to hear from you. Congrats again on the Foxwoods song. That must have been pretty exciting.
To answer your question, I actually live in Queens, more specifically Astoria. It’s about a 20 minutes train ride into the Manhattan. What I like about it is that you can find a lot more space for your money than living in Manhattan. Plus, Astoria is becoming a hot-spot for young professionals and has a really good nightlife.
With all that said, I’m actually looking to move so I can be closer to my job which is a good distance from Midtown. Do you have places in mind where you want to live? People you’ve looking to live with?
In terms of how I got my job, I was networking with someone at Grey and they recommend me for a position in the account management department. A month later, I was packing up my apartment in Philly and moved to NYC. I do know that it’s a lot easier to find a job when you actually live here. I have many friends that who moved to NYC without a job and in a few weeks had found something. What are you looking to do?
Let me know when you’re in the city and we can grab drinks. Also, if you need a place to crash while searching for apartments, your welcome to use my couch.
Hope all is well and keep in touch.
Cheers,
Clark
Social Media Monopoly. I love it that Linkedin is the ghetto. So true, who uses Linkedin any more?
Is New York City indefinable? The city attracts people of every walk of life and nationality. Businesses look to this city as a mecca of innovative dreams and aspirations. And are quickly to cut the welcome ribbon of any New York City headquarters. But if you were asked to bring New York City to one word. One image. One thought. What would it be?

Many people will say that the city is too diverse, too large to be taking down to a single entity. They say, even the people who have lived here their whole lives; generation of families on the same block will not agree on how to define New York. But yet, what makes this city unique and unexplainable is the exact thing that makes the NYC what it is. We all share different experiences within the city. We have favorite places to visit. We hold loyalty to Brooklyn or Queens and are quickly to interrupt if someone says differently. Whether you love or hate it, New York is defined by the feelings shared with 8 million people you have never met. New York is defined by these experiences. Its what makes this city unlike any other place in the world and truly a remarkable place to live.
Call to action: I ask that share your NYC experiences with me and for others to enjoy. Whether it’s your favorite place to relax, funny or romantic stories, pictures that capture the city’s beauty, or memories you have about the city; I want to hear about them. We sometimes forgot to take a step back and enjoy life for the experiences we create. I hope this will help to explore that again.
I am officially confused.
